Blog #1

Mood::discontent. :/

So, at first I wasn’t too sure what to blog about. So, I ate some chocolate. Then, I started to think. I started thinking about controversial things(like genetically altered food and free health care). After I started debating in my mind, I felt sick(probably from the chocolate). Anyways, heres my opinion on everything.

#1 Same-sex Marriage.

-Yes. Totally for it. No matter who you love, you should have the right to marry them. Marriage should not be banned to two people simply because they are the same sex. With marriage comes marriage benefits(like joint ownership) and leaving couples out of this is minority discrimination. Also, because homosexual couples cannot reproduce, when they decide to start a family, they will adopt. Adoption rates will go up, giving underprivileged children homes.

#2 Genetically Altered Food.

-Again, totally for it. All of you Organic-Super-Hippies might think that “genetically altered food is baaad, Dude, ’cause like there’s a bunch of, like chemicals and stuff in it, Maaan.” Well, “Dude” the scientists that grow the food are a pretty bright bunch. They do a lot of tests to make sure the food is safe. Also, if you are an Organic-Super-Hippie, chances are you probably don’t live in a country dying of hunger, so you must keep in mind that this altered food is for people who don’t have the option of going to a Henry’s and picking up some fresh grown tomatoes for $3 a pound because A) they don’t have a Henry’s and B) they don’t have $47.93 to spend on one meal for two people.

#3 Religion at Schools.

-Dear Creationists,
I know you want you’re beliefs to be mentioned in Biology classes during discussions on evolution. Go ahead and do that in your Catholic schools, I couldn’t care less about what goes on there. However, your theory of intelligent design does not need to be mentioned in a evolution discussion. In the constitution it says that tax money will not go towards religious functions and such( I paraphrased). Public schools are funded by tax money. Keep your Jesus out of it.

Your Friend,
Kamilah

#4 Abstinence-Only Programs.

-Abstinence is great for people who want that. I think that people should have sex when they are ready, whether they are married or not. The part I don’t like is the “only” part. These programs do not teach safe sex. They only tell teens about abstinence. So, if they decide they want to have sex, they are less likely to practice safe sex, because they were never taught about birth control and condoms.

#5 Eating Disorders.

-People need to stop throwing-up and starving themselves. It makes you look like a skeleton, and that’s not pretty. You will never look like the girls on the magazines because those pictures are PHOTOSHOPPED. Nobody is that thin, and still healthy. They say a camera adds 10 pounds, I say they take of about 20 pounds with photoshop.

#6 Abortion.

-I am Pro-Choice. That means I think abortion is a good thing. No, that doesn’t mean I think EVERY time some sex-addict gets pregnant she should wait until 8 months into the pregnancy then kill it. Just that some people that get pregnant are too screwed up to give birth to a healthy baby, or at all for that matter.
And it’s a great thing for young girls who get raped. If you were a 13 year old girl, would you want to drop out of 8th grade to take care of you’re baby? I think not.

Well, That’s What I Have To Say About That.
